There are reports an air ambulance has been called to the scene
Traffic is at a standstill on the A63 near South Cave due to a crash
The A63 is closed after a crash this afternoon (Tuesday).
Traffic monitoring system Inrix reports the westbound carriageway is closed due to an accident between Welton and South Cave. Motorists have reported traffic is at a standstill on the approach.
There are also reports an air ambulance has also been called to the scene. Google Maps shows heavy traffic stretching back as far as North Ferriby.
The closure comes just hours after motorists faced morning rush-hour delays due to overrunning roadworks. The westbound carriageway was closed between the A1034 (South Cave) junction and the M62 at junction 38 at North Cave due to overunning roadworks. National Highways said works were scheduled to finish at 6am but contractors had informed them they would overrun 'due to unforseen circumstances'. The road reopened at around 8.30am.
Hull Live has contacted Humberside Police and Yorkshire Air Ambulance for more information on the incident. We will update this blog when we have more information.
