Croatia defender Domagoj Vida hit the headlines for his iconic rock star look at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, and the star has a former Miss Croatia winner by his side
Domagoj Vida is married to a former Miss Croatia Croatia have a plethora of big name stars in their World Cup squad, but none are quite as interesting as rock star defender Domagoj Vida and his Miss Croatia wife. Identifiable by his long hair and fierce scowl, AEK Athens defender Vida has been a mainstay of the Croatia squad for over a decade, having made his debut in 2010. While the 33-year-old defender is yet to feature at the current tournament in Qatar, he has plenty of World Cup credit in the bank after playing six games during Croatia's run to the final in 2018. Vida was cheered on in Russia by his gorgeous wife Ivana, who will be hoping the veteran star can break into the team again for Thursday evening's crunch game against Belgium. Like all great romances, Vida and Ivana met in a Zagreb nightclub. And it must have been love at first sight, as the pair have been together ever since.
Vida claimed the Miss Croatia Universe title in 2014
Ivana is one of many WAGs cheering their husbands and boyfriends on at the World Cup Former Bayer Leverkusen and Dynamo Kyiv star Vida was with Ivana when she claimed her Miss Croatia Universe title in 2014, and they welcomed their first child into the world in 2015. Ivana has stayed by Vida's side throughout his various career moves across Europe, swapping Croatia for Ukraine, Ukraine for Turkey and Turkey for Greece, where he now plays for AEK Athens.
After Croatia's heroics at the 2018 World Cup, where they reached the final - only to lose to France - Vida was heavily linked to the Premier League, with West Ham, Liverpool and Arsenal all rumoured as possible destinations. He later ended up joining Besiktas, and after linking up with AEK in the summer, it seems unlikely he will end up in England as his career begins to wind down. In what will likely be his final World Cup, Vida will be hoping he can go out with a bang, even if Croatia have flattered to deceive a little in Qatar so far.
After drawing 0-0 in their opening game against Morocco, Zlatko Dalic's side got back on track with an impressive 4-1 win against Canada in their second group game. However, Group F is finely poised and defeat against Belgium in their final group game could see them knocked out if Morocco win against Canada, or if Morocco draw and Croatia suffer a heavy defeat against Belgium
